We are nearing completion and inspection for the new electric service installation at the River Park. A Wi-Fi account is also set and ready once the new service is connected.
Security cameras will be installed by Scott Wilson and his staff through Illuminating Concepts. A big shoutout and thank you to Scott and his team for serving as our IT professionals and helping keep our computers and town buildings secure.
Septic tank pumping is currently in week two.
Next week’s scheduled route will take place Thursday evening, May 14 through Friday, May 15. This route will include:
A reminder will be posted again before Thursday.
Utility billing for the 2nd quarter is due to our office by May 15th.

A portable toilet will be delivered next week in preparation for the upcoming summer season.
As boating season approaches, this is also a great reminder that New York State now requires many operators to complete a certified boating safety course before operating a motorized boat. The law is being phased in by age and will eventually apply to all motorboat operators regardless of age.
Residents can learn more about the New York State Boater Safety requirement and take approved courses here:

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week, and I would like to take a moment to recognize all of the incredible teachers, staff members, administrators, aides, bus drivers, and support personnel who dedicate themselves to our youth each and every day.
The work you do extends far beyond the classroom. You help shape future generations, create safe and welcoming learning environments, encourage growth, build confidence, and make a lasting impact on students and families throughout our communities.
Thank you for your patience, compassion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to our schools and our children. We deeply appreciate all that you do.

As we celebrate Mother’s Day this weekend, I would like to recognize and honor all mothers and mother figures for the incredibly important role they play in our lives each and every day.
Mothers are often the heart of the family; providing love, strength, guidance, encouragement, and endless support. The sacrifices they make, the values they instill, and the care they give help shape future generations and strengthen our communities in countless ways.
Today and every day, we thank you for all that you do and all that you are.
Wishing all mothers a very Happy Mother’s Day filled with love, appreciation, and joy.

Last weekend, I was honored to attend the annual Au Sable Forks Fire Department Firemen’s Banquet.
Thank you to all of the firefighters and auxiliary members for everything you do for our community. Your sacrifice, dedication, and willingness to serve is beyond measurable.
Congratulations as well to all those who received individual awards and recognition. It was wonderful hearing the praise and appreciation shared for your hard work and commitment to serving others.
The Jay Fire Department has been hard at work planning their upcoming Fourth of July Celebration.
These men and women consistently put forth the work ethic, organization, and dedication needed to provide our community with an incredible family-friendly event year after year. Members of the Jay Fire Department are always there to assist and support the Town of Black Brook events along with many events throughout our community, and we are grateful for all they do.
If you are able, please consider supporting their annual fireworks show. My family and I have attended the past few years and have always left absolutely amazed. I cannot wait to see the incredible show they put on again this year.

This week officially kicked off baseball, softball, and T-ball practices throughout our community. Wishing all of our young athletes a fun, safe, and successful season ahead.
Did you know the Town of Black Brook includes students and families from four school districts:
The Saranac Spartans will also be hosting a Youth Baseball Clinic for 3rd-5th grade players.
The free clinic will take place Sunday, May 31, 2026 from 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM at the Saranac Varsity Baseball Field and will feature skill stations, instruction from varsity athletes and coaches, and a scrimmage opportunity for participants.
The Black Brook/Jay Boys and Girls Junior Patriots basketball teams have also continued extending their seasons through tournament play.
Our boys team recently competed in Lake Placid and brought home a 2nd place finish. Great job team!
Our girls team, competing under the name Adirondack Pride, is made up of a combined group of Patriots players from Keeseville Elementary and Au Sable Forks Elementary; and what an impressive group they are.
Last weekend they hosted their own tournament at the Keeseville Civic Center and brought home 1st place. The weekend before, they also captured 1st place at the North Country Rumble tournament.
Way to go girls!
Thank you to all of the coaches, volunteers, leaders, and advocates who continue giving these kids opportunities to grow and continue doing what they love. You are making a difference.

As mosquito season begins, the Clinton County Health Department is reminding residents to take precautions against mosquito bites and mosquito-borne illnesses.

This week’s Community Spotlight is on Maicus Building Supplies.
I could not be more proud to have another family-owned and operated business right here in Black Brook. I want to personally thank Sid, Wayne, Deb, and the entire staff for their professionalism, knowledge, and customer service over the years, whether assisting with personal projects or town projects.
Deb shared a little about their history:
"Maicus Building Supplies located at 249 Buck Hill Road (Frog Hollow) started off in 1919 as a
family run sawmill. Sidney and Dwayne carried on the family tradition of producing log cabins
using logs off their property in Black Brook. Dwayne realized it would benefit the business to
offer a log cabin package deal - including roofing, windows and doors and created Maicus
Building Supplies LLC. The company has grown tremendously over the years thanks to our
loyal customers. We are known in the area as the “go to place” for metal roofing, windows,
doors, insulation, v-groove and other building supplies. We help to keep our neighbors warm
with our propane service and wood pellets. We are a HEAP vendor as well."
Please give us a call at 518-647-5343 or stop in to visit.
We are open Monday - Friday 8-5 and Saturday 8-2.

Thank you again to Deb for taking the time to speak with me and share more about Maicus Building Supplies and its longstanding history within our community.

It is no secret that youth sports are near and dear to us here in Black Brook; basketball especially for me.
This week’s picture of the week is the AVCS Unified Basketball game hosted this week at the AVCS Middle/High School.
The game was held during school hours with the gymnasium packed full of students cheering on their peers. There truly is nothing like the energy and support shown by fellow students during these games.
Although I was unable to attend this year, I had the opportunity to attend last year’s game and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it. I could not be more proud of this team and the support shown by the student body and staff.

I hope everyone enjoys the weekend with family and friends.
