Hi Residents and Community,
I hope everyone had a great week and is looking forward to some sunshine and warmer weather this weekend as much as I am.
We started the week off with our regular monthly Town Board meeting on Monday evening. We were joined by several AVCS High School students attending for their Government & Economics class. While I understand attending meetings may be a class requirement, I truly hope the students found the meeting interesting and that it sparks an interest in local government and community involvement in the future.
I also presented to the Town Board to create a local law providing our local firefighters and EMS personnel with a 10% land tax exemption. I’m happy to share that the Board unanimously agreed, and we will be presenting a draft local law at our next Town Board meeting on June 8th.
You can review the meeting minutes here:

Septic tank pumping continues Thursday evening, May 21st, and into Friday, May 22nd.
The scheduled route is Palmer Street at the intersection of Palmer and McCrea Street, beginning on the even side at 66 Palmer Street and ending at 20 Palmer Street.

A big thank you to our Town Clerk, Dennis, who graciously offered to plant the flowers in front of the Town Hall this year. Dennis picked out some absolutely gorgeous flowers and even started the process today on his day off.
Thank you so much, Dennis, for your dedication, kindness, and pride in our community. We truly could not ask for a better team member and friend!
The River Park is expected to welcome several AVCS students attending prom for pre-prom pictures this weekend. Jessie has been hard at work preparing the arches and flowers to make the park look beautiful for the occasion. We hope all students attending prom have a spectacular and safe evening! I’m sure I’ll see some of you at the park tomorrow.
In two weeks, we will be welcoming students to our Town office from AuSable Forks Elementary School to help plant our community garden.
This will be the second year the students have come to lend a helping hand, and it’s truly a day we look forward to. We hope this continues to become a wonderful tradition for many years to come.
We are grateful for the students, staff, and everyone involved in helping make our community garden such a special project.

This event is a wonderful opportunity to support our incredibly talented local youth and see the creativity, imagination, and hard work our students have put into their artwork throughout the year. Events like this showcase just how talented and inspiring our students truly are.

The 1st Annual AVCS Patriots College & Career Fair will be held on May 27, 2026, in the MHS Gymnasium.
This is an excellent opportunity for students and families to connect with colleges, local businesses, and organizations to explore future career paths and educational opportunities. There will also be prizes, raffles, and pizza for attendees.

The statewide burn ban has officially been lifted.
As many residents begin enjoying campfires, brush burning, and outdoor activities again, please continue to use caution and practice fire safety. Even though the ban has ended, dry conditions can still create dangerous situations very quickly.
Thank you to everyone for doing their part throughout the burn ban period to help keep our community and first responders safe.

Tick season is here, and it’s important to stay informed and protected while enjoying the outdoors.
