Hello residents and community,
It has been a beautiful week, and we are looking forward to an enjoyable weekend ahead.
First, I would like to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to the Jay Fire Department for extending an invitation for my wife and I to attend their annual Firemen's Banquet. I was truly honored to attend. Thank you to all of the firefighters who serve your department, and to your families, for the dedication, sacrifices, and heart that you pour into our community. Your service does not go unnoticed, we value our partnership with your department, and we are grateful for all that you do.

The Town of Black Brook would like to notify all Water District #2 customers in the Hamlet of Black Brook that the district is once again under a Boil Water Order.
Please be advised that the Boil Water Order that was lifted earlier this morning is no longer in effect.
A water main break occurred on Haselton Road this morning. Repairs were completed this evening; however, as a precautionary measure and in accordance with New York State Department of Health requirements, all customers served by Water District #2 are now under a Boil Water Order until further notice.
Residents should bring all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing fruits and vegetables, or preparing food to a rolling boil for at least one minute before use.
Following the repair, water quality samples must be collected and analyzed to ensure the safety of the drinking water supply. The Boil Water Order will remain in effect until the required bacteriological testing has been completed and satisfactory results have been received and approved by the Clinton County Health Department and New York State Department of Health.
We understand the inconvenience this causes and appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to ensure the safety of the water system.
The Town will provide updates as soon as test results become available and will notify residents immediately when the Boil Water Order has been lifted.

This week my office completed the Intent to Participate paperwork for the upcoming soccer season.
You will see registration links included in next week's announcements, and we will also be sharing the information with Au Sable Forks Elementary School for publication through ParentSquare before the school year ends.
While practices may not begin until August 1st, we want to be proactive and get registration information out before students leave for summer break.
Please stay tuned next week for registration information.
A FRIENDLY REMINDER ABOUT YOUTH SPORTS
I would also like to take a moment to address something important.
Recently, we experienced an unfortunate situation during one of our home softball games involving spectators from an opposing team. Our umpire, who is a teenager, was repeatedly criticized and harassed over calls being made during the game.
Our umpires are youth who have stepped up to help make these programs possible. For many, it is their very first experience officiating a game. Without these young people wanting and learning to umpire and officiate, the responsibility would fall entirely on coaches and parents.
I want to thank our coaches who stood up and supported our youth during a difficult situation. I am also incredibly proud of our own spectators and community members for the way they conduct themselves at our events.
Youth sports should be about learning, growth, teamwork, sportsmanship, and having fun. We all want our children to become coachable, respectful, and successful young adults. Let's continue setting the example and creating a positive environment for every child who steps onto the field.
The Au Sable River Bandits are holding tryouts for their 15 and 16-year-old travel baseball team.

Today we were truly thrilled to be joined by Mrs. Chamberlain's class from Au Sable Forks Elementary School to help plant our community garden.
This marks Year 2 of what has quickly become one of our favorite traditions. A SPECIAL Thank You to Missy Manning and Christina Brown for their assistance in working with us to coordinate this special day!
Thank you to the students and teachers for spending part of your day helping us plant our garden. We greatly appreciate your willingness to lend a helping hand and support our community.
You are our future, and you are already making a difference.
What Does Community Garden Mean?
Our hope is for a wonderful harvest of:
Tomatoes, Green Peppers, Lettuce, Radishes, Peas, Beans, Cucumbers, and Sunflowers!
The best part of our community garden is that we share the harvest with any community member who would like to enjoy the fresh produce. It is a small way for us to bring neighbors together while promoting healthy eating and community involvement.

A reminder that the AuSable Valley Central School District will be holding its Budget Hearing on:
Monday, June 8th
6:00 PM
Middle-High School Auditorium
I encourage residents to stay informed, ask questions, and take an active interest in matters that affect our students, staff, and taxpayers.
Throughout the month of June, the Community Spotlight section will also recognize graduating seniors who reside within the Town of Black Brook, regardless of which school they attend. This recognition is open to all graduating seniors who reside within our township, including students attending AuSable Valley Central School (AVCS), Saranac Central School District (SCSD), Peru Central School (PCS), Saranac Lake Central School District (SLCSD), homeschool programs, private schools, and other educational institutions.
While I have already begun compiling a list, I encourage parents and guardians to reach out to ensure their student is included. Please know that we will never publish information about your student without your consent. If you have not yet heard from us, you likely will soon, but if you would like to confirm that your senior is on our list, please contact Jessie at (518) 647-5411 ext. 1 or by text at (518) 524-9818.
This week, we are proud to recognize two outstanding members of the Class of 2026 from AuSable Valley Central School (AVCS).
NATHAN RONDEAU - AVCS
Nathan's mother shared the following message:
"Nathan will be attending Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), where he will major in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Aerospace Engineering. In addition to his academic pursuits, Nathan will also continue his wrestling career at RIT."
I am especially proud to say that Nathan worked for the Town of Black Brook two summers ago as a Summer Program Counselor. He did an outstanding job and was a positive role model for our youth. Nathan, we wish you the very best as you begin this exciting new chapter. We know you will accomplish great things and represent our community well.

LILLIAN COOLIDGE - AVCS
Lillian's mother shared the following message:
"Watching her get here has been one of the proudest moments of my life. She has overcome challenges that would have broken many people, yet she continues to move forward with strength, determination, and grace.
She has a heart for helping others, which is what led her to nursing, and I have no doubt she will make an incredible nurse someday. While it's hard for this mama to let her spread her wings, I couldn't be more proud of the young woman she has become."
Lillian will be attending SUNY Plattsburgh this fall to pursue a degree in Nursing.
I am also proud to say that I have had the opportunity to watch Lillian grow into the remarkable young woman she is today. She is always kind, helpful, and positive. I honestly don't think I have ever seen her without a smile. Her caring personality and dedication to others make nursing a perfect fit for her future.

Nathan and Lillian, I hope to see both of you around town this summer. Enjoy these final high school moments with your friends, make lasting memories, and take pride in all that you have accomplished.
On behalf of the Town of Black Brook, congratulations on your graduation. We wish you both continued success, happiness, and many achievements in the years ahead. Your futures are bright, and we look forward to seeing where your journeys take you.
Thank you for the opportunity to keep you informed. I hope everyone has a safe, healthy, and enjoyable weekend.
