Please mark your calendars! Due to the Monday holiday, our October Town Board Meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 6:00 PM, rather than Monday.
The meeting will be held at the Town of Black Brook Town Hall, 18 N Main Street, Au Sable Forks, NY 12912.
We encourage our residents to attend Town Board meetings whenever possible. Meetings are a great way to stay informed about local decisions, upcoming projects, and issues affecting our Town, while also providing residents with an opportunity to share input and stay involved in their community.

The Town of Black Brook will hold a 2027 Budget Workshop on Monday, September 28, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Town of Black Brook Town Hall, 18 N Main Street, Au Sable Forks.
The Town Board will be working through the proposed 2027 Town Budget, reviewing anticipated revenues, expenditures, departmental needs, and other financial considerations as we begin preparing for the upcoming year.

We are excited to share a great opportunity for Town of Black Brook residents!
The Town of Black Brook is pleased to partner with the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) and New York Rural Water Association to offer a FREE Private Well Testing Program for Town residents.
Free and confidential private well testing will be offered on a lottery basis to eligible residents. Testing includes routine physical and chemical testing, a $265 value, at no cost to residents who are selected.
Please note that PFAS testing is not included.

This opportunity is available to Town of Black Brook residents only.
We are happy to help bring this valuable resource to our residents and encourage those with private wells to take advantage of the opportunity!
We also want to make residents aware of the New York State Energy Affordability Program (EAP), which may help eligible households lower their monthly electric and/or natural gas utility bills.
The program provides eligible New Yorkers with a monthly discount directly on their utility bill. Eligibility has also been expanded, and households below the applicable median-income threshold may qualify even if they were not eligible under previous program requirements.
Residents who receive certain assistance benefits; including HEAP, SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, Lifeline, certain veterans benefits, public housing assistance, TANF, or Safety Net Assistance, may qualify, and some customers may be enrolled automatically. Residents who do not participate in one of these programs may still qualify based on household income.
With the cost of utilities continuing to be an important part of household budgets, we want to make sure our residents are aware of programs that may be available to them. If you think you may qualify, we encourage you to take a few minutes to review the program information and eligibility requirements.
The New York State Department of Public Service page also provides information for individual utility companies, including National Grid Upstate, along with instructions for applying or verifying enrollment.

Even if you have not qualified for utility assistance in the past, it may be worth checking your eligibility under the expanded program.

Our Holiday Gift Drive isn't quite underway yet, but the generosity has already started!
A very special thank you goes to an anonymous donor who generously dropped off several Barbie dolls for this year’s Holiday Gift Drive. Although they chose to remain anonymous, we want to make sure their kindness and generosity are recognized and appreciated.
Although we aren't officially collecting for the drive just yet, these gifts will be set aside and will help bring some extra joy to local children during the holiday season.
We will be sharing more information about this year's Holiday Gift Drive, including donation details and needed items, as we get closer to the holiday season.

With school tax bills going out, we would like to share a friendly reminder regarding Au Sable Valley Central School District school taxes.
School taxes are collected by the school district and are not collected by the Town of Black Brook Tax Collector.
We understand that it can sometimes be confusing to know which office to contact regarding different tax bills, and our Town staff is always happy to help point you in the right direction.

The Town of Black Brook currently has several opportunities available for individuals interested in working for or serving our community.
The Town of Black Brook Highway Department is currently accepting applications for a Motor Equipment Operator (MEO).
Starting Salary: $28.84 per hour
Application Deadline: October 7, 2026
Typical duties include operating trucks for snow removal, refuse and garbage removal, and transporting stone, gravel and supplies; operating snowplows, loaders, graders, rollers, bulldozers and other road construction equipment; performing preventative maintenance; cleaning culverts and ditches; transporting heavy equipment; performing manual labor and building maintenance; and assisting with other Highway Department duties as assigned.
Applicants should possess good knowledge of operating tractors, trucks and automotive equipment; knowledge of local geography; mechanical aptitude; the ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions; and the willingness and availability to respond to emergency situations.
Possession of the appropriate level New York State Operator's License is required. A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred.
Benefits include New York State Retirement System, health insurance, dental and vision insurance, paid vacation, sick and personal leave, paid holidays, overtime opportunities, and an Employee Assistance Program.
The Town of Black Brook is also seeking qualified applicants for the position of Dog Control Officer.
Salary: $4,500

The Dog Control Officer is responsible for enforcing New York State and local laws related to the general control of dogs. Duties include responding to complaints, seizing and impounding stray or dangerous dogs, attempting to locate owners, maintaining accurate records, assisting with investigations, enforcing quarantine orders, participating in court proceedings when necessary, and preparing reports for the Town Board.
Candidates should have good knowledge of dog-handling procedures, the ability to work effectively with the public, good communication and recordkeeping skills, knowledge of the local area, and sound judgment.
Candidates must meet one of the following minimum qualifications:
A valid New York State Driver's License is required if the position involves operating a motor vehicle.

We are already looking ahead to our next community event! The Town of Black Brook will be hosting Halloween at the River Park on Saturday, October 24, from 4:30–7:00 PM at the Town of Black Brook River Park, 2429 Route 9N, Au Sable Forks.
The evening will include Trunk or Treat, Trick or Treat stations throughout the park, complimentary hot dogs for the kids from The Dogfather, complimentary hot chocolate from The Forks Blend & Brew, Spooky Trail Train Rides, music, a campfire, s'mores, and more!

Looking for something fun to do this weekend while supporting a great local organization?
The Au Sable Forks Fire Department Auxiliary will be holding a Cornhole Tournament & Fundraiser this Saturday, September 19, from 1:00-4:00 PM at the Au Sable Forks Fire Department, 2456 NY-9N, Au Sable Forks.
Even if cornhole isn't your thing, there will be plenty of other ways to come out and support the Auxiliary! Stop by for 50/50 tickets, raffle prizes, homemade treats at the bake sale, and Michigans while enjoying an afternoon with the community.
The members of our Fire Department Auxiliary do a wonderful job supporting our firefighters and our community throughout the year. We encourage everyone who can to stop by, have some fun, and show them the same support they so generously give to our community.
