ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM SUPERVISOR DOUGLASS

April 17, 2026

Hello residents and community,

The week started off with our monthly board meeting on Monday evening. We are pleased to share that we had several visitors in attendance and appreciate the continued interest in our local government. It is always encouraging to see community engagement.

One of our visiting groups included Larry Hartson and Sarah Duheme of the Adirondack Civic Club, who presented plans for the Kendall Hartson LeMay Dog Park. The proposed park will be located in the hamlet of Au Sable Forks, within the Town of Jay, at 23 Grove Road, just behind Tops Market.

They shared an overview of their vision for the park and noted that they are currently seeking volunteers to assist with bringing this project to life. We support and appreciate the Adirondack Civic Club’s efforts to create this valuable addition to our community.

If you are interested in volunteering or would like more information, the club will be hosting a public site visit and Q&A at the future location of the Kendall Hartson LeMay Dog Park (23 Grove Rd., Au Sable Forks) at 1:30 p.m. You may also contact them at adkcivicsclub@gmail.com.

If you are unable to attend meetings in person or virtually, you can stay informed by reviewing our monthly meeting minutes. You are also always welcome to reach out to me directly, and I would be happy to speak with you. Monday’s meeting minutes can be found here:

Black Brook Clock Park Revitalization Update

Following the recent Sun Community News feature on the Clock Park revitalization project, we would like to address a question raised by a few residents regarding the memorial bricks purchased at the start of the project.

From the very beginning, it has always been our intention to incorporate these engraved bricks into the expanded and revitalized Clock Park. As part of the current design, the clock will be surrounded by a landscaped garden, and a garden wall will be constructed using those memorial bricks. This ensures that each contribution remains a visible and meaningful part of the park for years to come.

We appreciate the interest and feedback from our community. Many of the concerns we’ve heard have come from residents we see regularly or who have direct access to our office. We encourage anyone with questions or concerns to reach out to us directly. We believe this is the most effective and respectful way to communicate and address any issues.

We do not engage in discussions on social media, as it often leads to confusion rather than solutions. Open, direct communication allows us to provide accurate information and maintain a positive dialogue.

We are excited about this project and what it represents, a meaningful upgrade and a shared vision for the future of our town. We look forward to seeing the revitalized Clock Park become a place the entire community can enjoy.

Highway Update

We would like to extend our appreciation to the Town of Black Brook Highway Department for the excellent work they did this week cleaning the streets and shouldering roads throughout town.

After a long and exhausting winter, we truly value their hard work and continued dedication. If you see our highway crew out working, please drive with caution to help ensure their safety.

We are grateful for their commitment to keeping our community clean, safe, and well cared for.

River Park Update

We are currently in the process of installing a new electrical service at the Town of Black Brook River Park. This upgrade will support the addition of new security cameras and public Wi-Fi for visitors to enjoy.

Picnic tables have been placed, and spring maintenance is now underway as we prepare the park for the season.

This progress is made possible through the hard work of Fred and John, our Parks and Facilities staff, along with the assistance of the Highway Department. Through teamwork, we continue to accomplish great things for our community.

2026 Sewer Pumping Schedule

Please be advised that we are currently working on the sewer pumping schedule for 2026.

As always, thank you for your time and attention. I appreciate the opportunity to keep you informed. Wishing you all a safe and productive weekend ahead.
