Assessment Update from the Assessor

We recently received a letter from our Town Assessor regarding the 2026 assessment roll (please see letter below). In short:

  • Property values have increased significantly due to a strong real estate market.
  • The Assessor does not set your taxes but ensures fair and equitable property values.
  • As assessments rise, tax rates often decrease to balance municipal budgets.
  • Keeping assessments accurate helps prevent inequities across property owners.

If you believe your assessment is inaccurate, you have the right to challenge it by providing supporting documentation such as comparable sales, photos, or a professional appraisal.

Highway Department Update

This week, our Highway Department picked up their new truck from RR Charlebois, Inc. Great job to our Highway Superintendent and a big thank you to RR Charlebois for the build of this new truck, it will be a valuable asset to our town operations.

Au Sable Forks Fire Department Open House

I was pleased to attend the Au Sable Forks Fire Department open house last weekend. It was a great opportunity to see firsthand their new fire station, a much-needed facility that will better support the important work they do every day.

This new station reflects the evolving needs of the department and ensures they have the space and resources necessary to continue serving our community effectively and safely. We are incredibly proud of this department and grateful for their ongoing dedication. It is wonderful to see them equipped with a facility that matches their commitment and professionalism.
