THE COMMUNITY CHEST UPDATE

On behalf of the Town of Black Brook, I would like to recognize the incredible effort behind the creation of The Community Chest. As a 2026 Generous Acts grant recipient through the Adirondack Community Foundation, this project reflects a powerful investment in our community’s future. The Community Chest represents the very best of our community, neighbors coming together to support one another and build something meaningful for the future. It will be a valuable and beneficial resource for many, and we are grateful to everyone who played a role in bringing this vision to life. A sincere thank you to all of the volunteers whose dedication, time, and hard work made this possible.

Here is a special announcement from the organizers:

The day is almost here! Our Grand Opening for The Community Chest is Saturday, April 25th, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. We are located at 14223 Route 9N in Au Sable Forks, and we can’t wait to see you!

Please note: We are unable to accept donations during our Grand Opening event. In the meantime, we are still accepting donations up until opening day. Donations can be dropped off on Tuesday 11–5, and Wednesday or Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. You can also make an appointment to drop off your items by calling or texting 518-569-5100.

Starting next week, our regular business hours will be:

  • Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

We are not accepting donations of:

  • Air conditioners
  • Bike helmets
  • Clothing/bedding that is damaged/stained/soiled
  • Expired items & recalled items
  • Gas powered tools
  • Hazardous materials
  • Humidifiers
  • Incomplete games/puzzles
  • Large fitness equipment
  • Large furniture & upholstered furniture
  • Mattresses
  • Medical supplies
  • Nonworking electronics
  • Opened cosmetics
  • Outdated books
  • Pillows
  • Stuffed animals
  • Tires
  • TV’s
  • Used car seats, cribs, walkers, pack and play
  • Used underwear
  • VHS tapes
