Town of Black Brook Platforms For Communication

February 11, 2026

Dear Residents,

We strongly encourage all residents to sign up for email alerts by visiting the Town’s official webpage:
https://www.blackbrookny.gov/

Our webpage will serve as our primary and official platform for communication with residents.

Currently, the Town also offers a phone application, My Info Grove, which can be found in your phone’s app store. When downloading the app, please select Black Brook, NY as your city.

We would also like to inform residents that the Town has recently contracted with TextMyGov to replace the phone app. While the My Info Grove app has served us well over the past three years, we have been actively updating and still in the process of updating our website to include the same features and more.

With TextMyGov, residents will not need to download an app. Instead, you will simply opt in by texting a designated number. When important information needs to be shared, you will receive an actual text message directly to your phone.

We are currently in the process of training for TextMyGov and expect the service to be fully operational within approximately six weeks. Until then, the phone app will remain fully operational and available for use. Once we are ready to go live with TextMyGov, residents will be notified with clear instructions on how to opt in.

How the Town Will Use Each Communication Method

  • Town Website: The Town website is the official source for information, including notices, updates, and detailed announcements. Residents should rely on the website for the most complete and up-to-date information.
  • Email Alerts and TextMyGov Messages: These tools will be used for timely notifications such as water/sewer issues, street cleaning, road closures, meeting reminders, utility notices, and general Town updates. These messages are intended to supplement the website and provide quick alerts.
  • Emergency Notifications: Emergencies and immediate safety concerns will continue to be handled through appropriate emergency services and systems. Text and email alerts should not be used to report emergencies.

As a municipality, we are also steering away from social media as a communication tool. Our official platform will be the Town’s webpage, and due to limited staffing, it is not feasible to maintain multiple communication platforms effectively. In the near future, our communications will be streamlined to the Town’s webpage and TextMyGov.

In addition, my phone line is always open for any questions or concerns. My office line also transfers directly to my cell phone. 518-647-5411 extension 4 or 518-524-7966.

Thank you for your attention, cooperation, and understanding.
